Just released, the main groups that are at particular risk from COVID-19. These groups includes those who are:

· Those aged 70 years of age or older

· Any with an underlying health condition listed below:

Cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy or radiotherapy or with blood or bone-marrow cancers at any stage.

Replacement organ recipients who remain on immunosupression medication.

Chronic (long-term) respiratory diseases; asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), emphysema or bronchitis.

Chronic heart disease (high cholesterol, angina, heart failure, heart attacks).

Chronic kidney disease.

Chronic liver disease (cirrhosis, hepatitis).

Chronic neurological conditions (Parkinson’s disease, motor-neurone disease, multiple sclerosis (MS), a learning disability or cerebral palsy).

Diabetes.

Spleen issues (sickle cell disease or if you have had your spleen removed).

Any with a compromised immune system as a result of HIV and AIDS, or medicines such as steroid tablets or chemotherapy.

Obesity (a BMI of 40 or above).

Any pregnant individuals.

A short list, not yet comprehensive, of a few of the major conditions requiring the subject to take more care as they are at a much higher risk of severe illness from COVID-19.

The best thing that any of us at particular risk, can do is to take a little more care. Guidelines are available and I am seeking these for my next posting.
